KAN Joint High School
Located against the backdrop of the desert, KAN Joint High School (serving Kfar Adumim, Alon, and Nofei Prat) fosters encounters between diverse individuals and perspectives, creating complex dialogues and deep learning while cultivating social responsibility, involvement, and initiative among its students.
At KAN, we believe that shared living and dialogue among the spectrum of Jewish identities are not only possible but represent the ideal model for Israeli society.
The school emphasizes conversations and encounters with people from different backgrounds, promoting meaningful, in-depth learning. Students are encouraged to embrace diversity, ask questions, and explore their identity through this process.
KAN’s philosophy goes beyond learning—it calls for action. Immersion in Jewish sources and values, with all their richness and diversity, aims to cultivate better individuals who are committed to tikkun olam (repairing the world), social involvement, and collective responsibility.
About KAN
Established in 2014 (5775) by the Association for Educational Advancement, KAN is a public and integrative high school under the Ministry of Education. It serves students in grades 9–12.
Learning at KAN
“A person learns only in a place their heart desires” (Babylonian Talmud, Avodah Zarah 19a).
KAN emphasizes independent and proactive learning, encouraging creativity, deep understanding, and application. The school nurtures curiosity, motivating students to continue exploring and learning independently and collaboratively.
The curriculum reflects a wide array of topics, integrating Israeli and Jewish sources from the Bible to contemporary works, alongside general subjects. Learning involves asking questions, research projects, small-group discussions that require depth and active listening, elective courses, and enrichment in diverse fields.
KAN combines interdisciplinary studies with field trips, hikes connecting students to nature and the land, and a focus on the relationship between individuals and their communities. Students engage in volunteer work, personal commitments, and initiatives that bridge learning and action.
Learning Through Encounter, Dialogue, and Action
KAN’s educational approach integrates meaningful encounters with people, texts, and situations, sparking curiosity, questions, and discussions that lead to critical thinking and the ability to form opinions.
The school fosters inquiry-based learning that emphasizes personal and group experiences, helping students understand that their voices and actions matter. Group learning is a core principle at KAN, where students take responsibility for their education, express themselves, and actively listen to others. Each student has a role, promoting teamwork and meaningful peer interactions.
KAN Sees You
Our students consistently say the first thing they notice about KAN is how they feel truly seen and valued.
Every student is a world of their own, and we are committed to recognizing their unique richness. Our mission is to help students shape and develop their individuality, identify their strengths, overcome challenges, and nurture their interests and passions.
KAN’s educators approach students with openness and create constructive dialogues, fostering acceptance and understanding without judgment. Teachers provide support, encouragement, and firm boundaries when necessary.
We are a family-oriented school, where every student is acknowledged and supported. Teachers and peers alike share smiles, offer encouragement, and create an environment of mutual respect and care.
At the same time, KAN pushes each student toward academic, ethical, and social excellence, ensuring no one “falls through the cracks.”
