Shaharit High School
Shaharit, a growing high school established by the Association for Educational Advancement, is the first state-religious school in Israel inspired by the High Tech High model developed in San Diego, USA. This approach fosters personal growth and excellence, experiential and collaborative learning, authentic and personalized work, and equality of opportunity.
Shaharit is a point of convergence, creating something new.
- A meeting between the Beit Midrash and innovative learning methods.
- A meeting between classroom learning and hands-on experience in the field.
- A meeting between boys and girls.
- A meeting between textbooks and exploration and curiosity.
- A meeting between school and real life.
- A meeting driven by curiosity, bridging the outside and the inside, Torah and labor.
An Invitation to a Journey
Shaharit invites students on a multidisciplinary, personal learning journey. It offers opportunities to experience learning that emphasizes instilling personal responsibility, fostering personal and academic excellence, and developing students’ skills, talents, and civic engagement as citizens of the 21st century.
Shaharit provides an authentic educational experience that builds a complete religious identity within an innovative learning environment focused on exploration and inquiry.
Our Vision
- Religious Life and Learning: Deep and meaningful Torah studies, encounters with diverse perspectives, a shared Beit Midrash, and the creation of personal and communal spiritual connections. Gender-inclusive education is integrated into the school’s curriculum.
- A Holistic Religious-Social Lifestyle: An in-depth exploration of Jewish sources, fostering a sense of belonging, love, and relevance while addressing modern challenges faced by a believing individual.
- Dialogical Education: Emphasizing the partnership of all members of the school community. Students actively participate in decision-making and shaping the school environment through assemblies, committees, and additional forums.
Leadership
Shaharit High School is directed by Rani Hazan-Weiss, a respected Jerusalem-based educator and activist. The school operates in collaboration with MANHI (Jerusalem Education Administration), the Ministry of Religious Education, and the Association for Educational Advancement.
